About This Issue
By Jason Hasert

It’s time to spring into action. Tractors and equipment are returning to the field after a long winter hibernation. This month the Toy Tractor Times will focus on springtime tillage and planting. Springtime on the farm is captured by this month’s mini display journal movie featuring Adam Suntken’s Squealer farm display. Viewers will be able to watch Adam’s display spring to life as a Steiger Tiger III and John Deere 8410T head from the barn to the field to plant corn. Dave Tallon’s article shares tips on matching tractor horse power to tillage implements. If yard work and gardening are your ways to play farm, make sure to read Phil Alstaetter precision article on the new John Deere 140 lawn and garden tractor.

Stefanie and I are pleased that all 1086 tractors have been shipped and are on their way to their carpet farm barns. A total of 4000 1086 tractors were produced by the ERTL company for the Toy Tractor Times. This has proved to be one of our most popular tractors in our 21 year history. Many thanks to my fiancé Stefanie and her parents Fred and Kathy Martin for helping get all the 1086 tractors unloaded from the shipping trucks and sent out from Fed Ex. It was a big project and we are glad our customers are now enjoying their 1086 tractors. Next month we will feature the Chrome 2004 Rick Larson Edition IH 1086 in a special article that includes a tractor cake. Gordy Shultz’s April Literature Rack article reviews IH 86 series literature and shows a 1977 IH promotional video that includes the 1086 tractor.

Mountain of IH 1086 Anniversary Tractors

First 1086 out of the box of the 4,000 units

If you are wondering about the next Toy Tractor Times tractor, it is already in the works. I can tell you that it has an engine and a cab and 6 wheels. What a hint???? Remember the unveiling of the tractor will happen on August 15, 2005, on our 22nd anniversary.

We hope you have a successful spring and are able to dodge the April showers. In May it will be time for hay and we will bring you coverage of model hay and dairy farming

Until the next “Times,”

Jay
