Time For Spring
Time for Spring is annual look at toys and models used for spring tillage and planting. This is our forth annual installment of the spring themed issue and April marks the fourth Anniversary of The Toy Tractor Times switch to an on-line only magazine. Paid readers now have four years of free back issues they can review at www.toytractortimes.com/backissues .

This month we have a slightly new look for you. All of the articles now have a standard format that allow you to read the article and then view the pictures through a slide show at the bottom of the page. T.T.T has a new feature article called Ask Ertl where Bill Walters the Farm Toys Managing Director at Ertl will answer questions about new farm toys.

The 2007 issue of Time for Spring is full of informative information. Our big story this month is the new 1/64 John Deere DB90 36 row corn planter. The new 36 row planter is the largest implement ever replicated as a toy model. Spec-Cast gets an A+ on this model.

Toy Tractor Times TV has a feature on a 36 row planter in action as well the popular John Deere CCS corn planters at work. Also there are webisodes on Lone Creek Toys John Deere check row planter and the White All in One planter.

Make sure to read all seventeen articles and view all four videos in the April 2007 Toy Tractor Times. There are great topics on the new 1/64 John Deere disk, modeling with 1/32 toys, reviews and information on collecting 1/16 toys and tips on building your own models. We hope you enjoy this issue.

Until Next Times…

John Deere Toy Grounds Maintenance Equipment

Its spring time and that means yard clean up time. What better way to clean up than with a John Deere lawn mower from Ertl. Ertl produced a great yard maintenance play set back in 1970. The set included a John Deere lawn and garden tractor, loader, dump cart, grader, blade and rotary broom. This exciting set retailed for around $10.00 in 1970. Today expect to pay around $900.00 for a pristine new in the box set like this.

About the Cover
The April 2007 Toy Tractor Times cover features Johnathan Dobis field worked John Deere 8530. Johnathan used an Ertl Authentic 8530 and painted it to look like it has worked hard in the mud and dust. Notice the detail Johnathan added by having clear areas in the windows where the wipers cleared away the dirt. The tractor is hooked to a drag made by Gordy Schultz. In Western Kentucky large horse power tractors pull drags at high speeds to level min-till fields ahead of big planters like the new 1/64 John Deere 26 row DB90 pictures in the background of the cover.

News
Toy Tractor Show.com celebrated its 7th Anniversary on April 27, 2007. Bill Walters, Ertl Farm Toys Managing Director has been involved with the website from the very start. Since the year 2000 Bill has shown great interest in talking with collectors through the website to share information and gain feed back from farm toy collectors.

Starting in February 2005 Toy Tractor Times Toy Talk has had an ask Ertl section where Bill Walters has answered collectors questions. This month Bill reached his 1,000 post. The Toy Tractor Times has made up a special 1/16 Allis-Chalmers WD-45 featuring a 1,000 post decal for Bill. In a 2001 web chat with collectors Bill shared he grew up on an Allis-Chalmers powered farm and the WD-45 was one of his favorite tractors.

This month also begins a new chapter in Bill Walters involvement with Toy Tractor Times. The Ask Ertl message board is being retired in favor of a new monthly column in the magazine where Bill will answer questions about newly released Ertl Farms toys. Bill’s Ask Ertl first column features the new 1/64 John Deere 637 disk and 200 soil finisher.

Many thanks to Bill Walter’s for his continued interest in farm toy development and the farm toy hobby.
