Danny Beach a true tractor fan

Like me, Danny Beach grew up in Western New York State.  Western New York is a treasure trove of big tractors and big farms.  It’s possibly one of the best kept secrets in farming due to the New York City stigma.  You can’t drive five miles down the road without seeing a big four wheel drive tractor, in fact, Western New York is the four wheel drive tractor capitol of the world, but that’s another article in itself. 
 
Danny Beach grew up in Caledonia, New York, and still lives there today.  He has lived all of his life there just down the road from one of the largest farms in the state.  As a little boy, he looked across the street and see Paul Stein’s John Deere four wheel drives and big implements.  Danny was a John Deere fan from the start and would call all of his Ertl tractors big Stein tractors.  As Danny got older, he went to work on Paul’s farms and was able to drive the big tractors himself.  This was a dream in itself come true, but here’s the rest of the story…..

Danny left farm work to pursue office work and found himself very unhappy.  This new opportunity took his heart out of his work.  That’s until we met through ToyTractorShow.com in December of 2002.  Even though we grew up only five miles from each other, and loved seeing big Stein John Deere tractors roll down the road, we never had the opportunity to meet.  A chance meeting through the website developed a life long friendship where we realized our common backgrounds made us feel like long lost friend.  ToyTractorShow.com helped Danny rekindle his interest in John Deere tractors and Ertl farm toys.  He started purchasing John Deere toys again at his local John Deere dealership, Lakeland Equipment, in Avon, New York.  Soon he was a regular with the guys at the parts counter and found out there was a job available at the dealership.

Even though this was an entry level position, Danny put his whole heart and soul into the job leaving his old job behind.  Danny started out unpacking parts boxes and soon his work ethic was noticed and he was promoted to stocking and tracking inventory in the parts department.  Danny during this time was a regular visitor of ToyTractorShow.com and was keeping up with the latest news in the hobby.  Customers at Lakeland Equipment and ask about John Deere toys and the parts guys heavily relied on Danny to answer toy questions.  Danny got his big chance in December 2003 when he pitched the idea to the store manager to take the dealership’s toy inventory to the Western New York farm toy show hosted by ToyTractorTimes.com’s author, Doug Harke.  Danny had great success at the show with sales and bringing new customers to his dealership.  Danny’s boss was impressed and placed him in charge of toy orders for the Avon store.  Sales more than tripled in Ertl farm toys at the dealership because Danny kept up with the latest news and trends posted by Ertl product manager, Bill Walters, on ToyTractorShow.com.  As soon as Danny read about a new surprise, he called Ertl to put in a store order.  Western New York collectors soon learned that if they went to Lakeland, they were guaranteed to get the newest John Deere toys on the market.
