1/64 Projects
By Dwayne Boyum

CaseIH Air Seeder
This project started as a vintage CaseIH air drill made by Ertl. I detailed it with hydraulic cylinder that move in and out as the wings are folded up and down. I also added delivery hoses to each of the 75 planting units, and from the seed cart to the distribution manifolds. And last of all, I did some detail painting to highlight some of the features that Ertl cast into the framework.

Great Plains 3N-4010P 40ft. folding grain drill
This project used parts from a John Deere 1790 planter from Ertl, and 3-John Deere 1560 no-till drills also made by Ertl. I started by removing the commodity tanks, planting units, and row markers form the planter, so all that was left was the hinging frame, and toolbar. Then I cut apart the 3 drill and JB welded the front row of planting units with the rear platform, and added the seed tank back on. Then I removed the rear wheel assemblies from 2 of the drills, and left them on for the center drill. I then took one of the wheel assemblies and the center drill, and drilled a whole though were each wheel went so that I could have wheels on both sides like the real ones. Once the drills where ready, and the wheels attached, I glued the drills to the toolbar, and made the wheel assemblies for the ends of the drill. Once the drill was assembled, I painted it Great Plains Green, and added decals that I made on my computer, and printed on my laser printer.

Vintage Great Plains Air Seeder
This project started out as a vintage CaseIH air drill. First I removed the wheels, planting units, and tank from the drill. I then painted the seeding unit Great Plains green, and the wheels black. To make the Great plains seed tank, I used pieces of 2X2 lumber, and cut the tanks out with my band saw. Then to finish them I used a bench top Belt/Disc sander to sand all the sides even. I then glued them onto the caddy from the seeder, and added a ladder made out of small brass wire, and styrene plastic. Once completed I painted the seed tank Great Plains green, and added decals that I made on my computer, and printed on my laser printer.
