The Toy Tractor Times Magazine
June 2005: Big Pull'n Power

About This Issue
By Jason Hasert

The June issue of the Toy Tractor Times is all about Tractor Power. Traditionally, in June we look at pulling tractors. Pulling is as old as tractors themselves. Farmers from the start have always wanted to prove that their tractor and brand could outdo the neighbor's. Over the years, these friendly competitions have grown into a sport unto themselves. Pulling tractors are also a popular aspect of the farm toy hobby and we have several articles on these models in the June issue.

This month's pulling theme features our editor, Michael Henry's pulling tractor teacher's pet. Michael is a teacher in Western Pennsylvania and in his spare time, enjoys taking his IH 1066 to tractor pulls.

Michael must have been born with pulling in his blood as he was featured on a 1984 cover of the Toy Tractor Times as a child in a pedal pull competition riding International 66 series pedal tractor. Here we see Michael putting the pedal to the metal with pure determination to make his own big tractor power.

Beyond the pulling track, there are big tractors in the field. This month we also look at the pioneers to break one hundred horse power and the big four wheel drives that continue to set new benchmarks. Jay Schulines' model farm shows in this issue just what big blue Ford power can do. Dan Adamson shares 1/64 variations of the John Deere 9000T series. We have a first look at the IH 1206 Precision from Ertl and Doug Harke shares IH 2 plus 2 history. Gordy Shurtz tops off our four wheel drive feature with Steiger Series III literature.

Toy Tractor Times owner Jason Hasert and Stefanie Martin to be married July 2, 2005

As I have mentioned in previous issues, my fiancé, Stefanie Martin and I will be getting married on July 2, 2005.

We are looking forward to wedded bliss and starting a new life together. We will be taking time off from the websites through mid-July to celebrate our matrimony. We look forward to going out on our first tractor outing as husband and wife on July 23 to Red Power Round Up in Lebanon, Tennessee. Hope to see some of you there!

Both Stefanie and I are very patriotic and enjoy seeing the stars and stripes fly high. Our wedding will have a red white and blue theme to tie in with Independence Day. I enjoy collecting the red, white and blue tractors offered over the years. In the July issue we will look at the stars and stripes models from Steiger, Case, Oliver and Massey-Ferguson. It will also be time to focus on the wheat harvest.

Until the Next Times.....

Jay
