Time for Harvest

Time for Harvest
It is fall harvest time and for the 2006 harvest The Toy Tractor Times is featuring John Deere combines and cotton harvesting. When it comes to harvesting grain John Deere is one of the best known combines on the market. In this issue look for Toy Tractor Times video on the 300 bu. John Deere 9860 STS shelling corn. We also feature the ever popular Maximizer combine line from Ertl. The 1/28 Maximizer combines were a main stay from Ertl through the 1990's and now Ertl is just releasing an updated 1/28 Maximizer featuring never before offered 9610 decals, duals and rear wheel assist tires.

Fall harvest for many of our readers means corn and soybeans. Across the southern United States fall harvest is all about picking cotton. The cotton picker is one of the largest and most expensive pieces of machinery on the farm market. Ertl has produced several 1/80 and 1/64 John Deere and CaseIH cotton pickers that peak collectors machinery interests.  Thanks to Jarod Birch's video camera and a visit to Brad McPherson's Missouri cotton farm Toy Tractor Times members will be able to see how their toy cotton pickers relate to the real harvesters.  Brad Mcpherson is well known in the farm to hobby for his custom toys that he sells on-line at http://www.customfarmtoys.com

The Toy Tractor Times Literature Rack also features cotton harvesting with the new CaseIH 625 Module Express cotton picker. The new 625 brochure introduces the first ever  picker and module builder combo.

This month's issue also feature traditional harvesting with combines.  Toy Tractor Times TV features the John Deere 9860 STS in fall harvest action.  There are other John Deere combine features in Collect it All and Wall Paper.

Dan Adamson traces the history of CaseIH 1/64 combine variations from the 1640 to the 2388.  Doug Harke highlights Ertl harvesting toys from 1971.  Dave Tallon gives tips on building a classic 1/64 grain truck.  Dave Desjardins features new trucks from DCP ready to haul the fall harvest.

We also have tractors in this issue.  Rick Hartwell writes about the Siku 2006 Limited Edition 6520 Silver John Deere.  Matt Hirtzell previews the new Farmall 460 with winter gear, just in time for the winter season.

We are excited to preview the Toy Tractor Times 1066 this month.  Ertl has done an outstanding job in producing a detailed replica of the 1976 IH 1066.   The tractor will be released early next spring.  The collectors edition box for the 1066 hights the tractors history and stand out black stripe graphics.  You can still order 1066 in the Toy Tractor Times webstore at http://toytractortimes.com/store/home.php

The November Toy Tractor Times will bring you all the news from the National Farm Toy Show.
