This month's mini movie features the new John Deere 4920 fertilizer spreader. Ertl has just released a shelf version and fall farm show edition 1/16 scale of this toy. The 4920 was introduced by John Deere in 2004 and is available as a sprayer model with spray booms ranging from 90 to 120 feet or a dry fertilizer model with a 200 cu. ft. dry box. Ertl released the sprayer model with a 120 foot boom and 1200 gallon liquid tank in the fall of 2004. This fall the dry fertilizer version follows with a replica of a New Leader fertilizer box.

The dry fertilizer 4920 has many of the same features as the sprayer including a clear window cab and a folding access ladder. Besides the change to the fertilizer box, Ertl has added large flotation tires to this unit. The real 4920 can be changed from a sprayer to a fertilizer spreader in 4-5 hours. The advantage to mounting a dry fertilizer box onto this machine is the 68 inch spinner height to spread in widths from 60-105 feet depending on the material.

This article's pictures allow you to take a walk around tour of the new 1/64 4920 and compare it to last year's sprayer version. It is also the star of the latest TTT mini movie. It is supported by a cast of customized John Deere tractors. In the movie we see the farm field in fall tillage as the JD 4920 disperses fertilizer for next year's crop. The custom models you see in the movie were produced by several collectors.

The JD 8960 4WD was customized by Lee Johnson of Iowa. It is pulling a 14 ft. Krause chisel plow made by Nick and Dick the Allis guys from New York. The JD 4560 on the drag was made by Michael Newman of Tennessee and the drag was made by Gordy Shultz of Wisconsin. The JD 8520T wide track was customized by Adam Suntken of Iowa and is pulling a soil finisher made by Gordy Schultz. The fertilizer truck is an International customized by John Esche of Indiana.

Now that you have met our cast and crew, sit back and enjoy the mini movie.
