It is with pride, that we offer you, The Toy Times 2004 Anniversary Tractor. This year’s tractor is the 1977 International Harvester 1086. The 1/16 scale die cast replica features a detailed painted IH cab, precision duals, precision weights and large front tires. Never before has an 86 series model offered so much detail. The model will include a Toy Tractor Times 2004 inscription imprinted on the cab door. A special collectors box will house the tractor. The order deadline for the 2004 TTT tractor will be November 15, 2004. To order your IH 1086 visit http://www.toytractortimes.com/ttt1086order.htm.
2004 21st Anniversary Toy Tractor Times International 1086 This months TTT has a slightly red theme in honor of the 2004 TTT Tractor and the 102nd Anniversary of the International Harvester brand. Cyrus McCormick first introduced his reaper in 1831 and in 1902 the McCormick Reaper company merged with the Deering Reaper Company and purchased several equipment manufactures all in one day to form International Harvester. IH has a long legacy in the tractor business that is carried on by CNH today. This month TTT looks back at models like the M, 06 series and the 2+2. John Deere fans are not left out this month. There is a feature by Doug Harke on the first 1/64 John Deere tractors and Dave Tallon reports on the Plow City Toy Show and new John Deere toys on display. Make sure to check out the article on J&S Farm Toys custom models and the new Fall Farm Show release. The new fall line of John Deere toys is out and can be viewed at www.toytractortimes.com/johndeerefall2004.htm. Next month we start our fall theme series of displays and toys that will run through November. I would like to feature any custom fall harvesting tillage projects that you may be working on. If you have display or custom project would like to share with the Toy Tractor Times please e-mail me at toytractortimes@aol.com If you would like to join the TTT author list or share an article please contact Michael Henry at michaelghenry@yahoo.com. Until the next "Times" Jay |

Happy 21st Anniversary
The Growing Series of Toy Tractor Times Tractors
By Jim Simpson
The Toy Tractor Times has celebrated each anniversary since 1986 with a 1/16 scale tractor. This years 21st Anniversary model of the IH 1086 is the best TTT tractor yet. TTT Anniversary Series has made a significant contribution to the farm toy hobby over the years. The first 8 TTT tractors were land mark models. Before the Massey-Harris Pony in 1986, 1/16 replicas of small horse power tractors were not offered in great quantities. Today TTT is embarking on a new generation of 1970's tractors. The 70s was the of begging of modern era of power and comfort in tractors. The 2003 AC 7030 highlighted the start of Allis-Chalmers modern tractor line and the 2004 IH 1086 celebrates Internationals first modern and computerized tractor cab. It will be interesting to see what other three land mark 70s tractors TTT offers. What I particularly like about the new series of TTT tractors is the improved look of the collectors edition tractors. Ertl put some new twists on the AC 7030 with paint and decals so that it stands out from past 1/16 AC 7000 series offerings. The slogan for the TTT 1086 says it all: "Your Old Friend Has a New Look". Ertl has taken the 86 series body and made a new model by taking IH 1466 Precision parts (real dual wheels & tires and front weight bracket with weights), along with added cab/chassis light detailing and correct exhaust pipe. Large flotation style front tires and rims add to this tractors rugged look. Could this be the future of true "collector" farm toys from Ertl by combining parts from precision series with "shelf" model. If the models come out looking like the TTT 1086 I sure hope so.
To close out my salute to 21 years of The Toy Tractor Times I would like to look back at the history of the cost Anniversary Series and the Magazine. In my years of collecting I have watched 1/16 shelf toys raise from $20 in the 1980s to $40 today and collectors editions go from $40 to $80. Collectors get a real value from TTT. In 1983 TTT started out at a $10 subscription price and today it is 100% larger and on top of breaking farm toy news first for only $18. That is a $1.50 an issue. TTT's first tractor in 1986 was $47.50 and the price remained unchanged for nine years as the quality of the models continued to improve. This years TTT tractor holds the $57.00 price first offered on the 2000 TTT tractor. With a total of 18 regular anniversary tractors produced between 1986 and 2004 the TTT price has only increased $9.50. What a deal. Below is the full price history of all 18 Anniversary tractors and the colating subscription price. 1986 TTT M-H Pony the first TTT tractor was $47.50 and the price of TTT was $10.00 a year 1987 TTT AC B was $47.50 and the price of TTT was $14.00 a year 1988 TTT M-M V was $47.50 and the price of TTT was $15.00 a year 1989 TTT Oliver Super 44 was $47.50 and TTT was $15.00 a year 1990 TTT John Deere L was $47.50 and TTT was $15.00 a year 1991 TTT IH Farmall A was $47.50 and TTT was $15.00 a year 1992 TTT Case VA was $47.50 and TTT was $15.00 a year 1993 TTT Ford 9n was $47.50 and TTT was $18.00 a year 1994 TTT JD 720 $47.50 and TTT was $18.00 a year 1995 IH 706 ROPS $49.50 and price of TTT is $18.00 a year 1996 TTT IH 1456 w/duals $50.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 1997 TTT Case 1175 $50.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 1998 TTT Ford 641 Work Master $50.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 1999 TTT IH Farmall 230 $50.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 2000 TTT AC 7045 $57.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 2001 TTT JD 4040 $58.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 2002 TTT IH Farmall 400 $55.50 and TTT is $18.00 a year 2003 TTT AC 7030 $57.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year 2004 TTT IH 1086 $57.00 and TTT is $18.00 a year For a picture check list of all 19 TTT tractors visit http://toytractortimes.com/toytractortimestractors.htm |
