National Farm Toy Museum Tractors
Fortunately, I was able to make it to the National toy show again. This marks my 13th year and it gets better every time. The weather was great and it was good to see those of you who were able to come. Hopefully next year the rest of you will get a chance to go.
The National Farm Toy Museum (NFTM) was opened in 1986. The museum allows collectors a chance to view the toys available for their collection and it give some insight to non-collectors about what the hobby was all about. In 1990, a series of 1/64 NFTM tractors was started. The CaseIH 7130 became the first tractor in this series.

The 1991 tractor may not have been received well by collectors. Porky Pig was placed on the generic tractor that had previously been used with Zeke, the Toy Farmer mascot. The Porky Pig tractor was also produced without the NFTM printing.

Fortunately, this theme did not continue. The third year of the series used an Allis Chalmers 8010. There are several unique features with this model, the tractor is an 8010, but the card reads 8070. This is the only FWA version available in the Allis Chalmers or the Duetz Allis line up for this model.

In 1993, when the McCormick Super WD-9 was chosen, IH collectors were the first in line to add this one to their collections.

The next year, the Oliver 1555 was used as the fifth NFTM tractor. This model is a little different from the models offered in the Oliver sets. It has small, all green fenders that were only offered on the NFE models in the past. The WFE models have larger fenders with white painted ends.

In 1995, the first Ford appeared, a 9N as number six in the series.

The following year the first John Deere was used for the tractor. A John Deere 80 became the seventh NFTM tractor.

A John Deere was used again for the eighth tractor in the series. This time it was a 5010. Two John Deere tractors in a row might not have set well with some collectors, but John Deere fans loved it.

NFTM number nine again added something new along the variation line. The Farmall M used this year came with fenders. The other M models produced do not come with fenders.

To end the twentieth century a Ford 5000 was used for the tenth NFTM tractor.

As a John Deere fan, what better way to start out the new millennium but with yet another John Deere tractor. The John Deere 60 was issued this year in a box. Instead of the box having “eleventh in a series” it says “series 4 number 1”.

As it turned out the box was not going to be the new packaging style for the turn of the century. In 2001, a McCormick International Farmall MV high crop was used for the NFTM . This tractor was issued back on the old card. The regular MV high crop that was issued in set number one was is labeled as a McCormick Deering Farmall. A mistake was made in the assembly of this years model. This high crop model does not have a high crop hitch.

The thirteenth NFTM tractor repeated the Allis Chalmers theme with a D19. This model includes some significant changes from the non-show model as well as another assembly mistake. The normal model has a painted rear axle. It also has a black steering wheel and seat assembly. The show model has a chrome rear axle. The steering wheel is molded in crème plastic and the seat assembly is multicolored. The fenders on this tractor have been assembled backwards.

The fourteenth NFTM tractor went back to another John Deere. The 4010 was chosen for the 2003 museum tractor.

This years model brought back the Oliver them with a 77.

Finally, to celebrate the museums tenth anniversary in 1996, two commemorative tractor trailers were issued. The first trailer has two International 1066 tractors with a cab. The second trailer has two 1466 tractors with ROPS.

The tractor trailers and the AC 8010’s seem to be the hardest to find. Good luck with your search. Please send me an email with any questions or comments. I can only write about what I have found so if anybody has a variation that I haven’t mentioned in my articles, and I know some of you do, please send me an email to let me know.
