What is in this Issue?

Toy Times Comments

Thank you for waiting for the May Haying and Dairy Issue.  I spent a good part of May helping out with the filming of Big Iron IV.  The Big Iron video series started in 2001 featuring the Prairie Buster 4wd tractors like Big Bud, Rite, ROME, Steiger, Versatile and more.   Big Iron Part II reviewed rubber tracked models like the CaseIH Quad-Trac, John Deere 9000T and Caterpillar Challenger.   The third installment of the series traced the history of Australian 4wds including the Waltana, Acre-Master and Baldwin.  The videos have also looked a famous 4wds like the 900 hp Big Bud 16V-747, 600 hp 8wd Versatile Big Roy, Steiger #1 and 600 hp Kinze Big Blue.  Each VHS video is full of 4wd action and history, running 60 minutes in length.   You can purchase video 1, 2 and 3 though Toy Farmer at www.toyfarmer.com.

Big Iron Video's

It was exciting to be a part of Big Iron IV.  I worked with Bernhard Roes and Peter Simpson as they filmed the 4th installment.  We traveled across Western, New York and filmed 32 four wheel drive tractors.  From the Niagara region to Rochester to Syracuse we found monster 4wds like the Rome, historic 4wds like the John Deere 8020 and work horses like Steiger.  The main goal of the trip was to track the history of AGCO 4wds.  During the trip Bernhard filmed the Minneapolis-Moline A4T-1600, Oliver 2655, White 4-150, White 4-180, White 4-210, WFE 210, Allis-Chalmers 440, Allis-Chalmers 7580, Allis-Chalmers 8550, Allis-Chalmers 4W-220,  Massey- Furguson 1805,  Massey- Furguson 4800, Massey- Furguson 4840,  AGCO-Star 8425 and Challenger MT835.   I grew up in WNY and it was a great experience to see local farms take part in the video.

The Toy Tractor Show.com auction has a special item this year.  Tim Grube has donated the Sawyer Seed Corn Farm display for the 2004 auction.   The seed corn farm will be auctioned on  E-bay in the 3rd annual TTS auction.  The auction will start on June 20th.   Tim was very kind to donate his display.   He placed 2nd at the 2003 National Farm Toy Show and 1st at the 2004 St. Louis Toy Show with the seed corn farm.   The display was featured in the March Toy Tractor Times.

Tim is donating the display but not the equipment.  The auction will include the display boards which include the farm area and seed corn field.   The farm will include all of the buildings except the farm shop.   Tim is willing to transport the display one hour outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the winner,  beyond that the winner will be responsible for transporting the display.  The display is built on plywood with a dimensions of 4 x 8 foot.

Tim Grube's generosity to TTS has come as a tremendous surprise.  The proceeds of the auction help fund the website's server space.   A full selection of the items in the 2004 auction will be listed on Toy Tractor Show.com later in June.
