From IH 1066 to the IH “Baby Ragin’ Red”
When Suzie Webb called about an IH 1066 pedal tractor, I thought that this would be an interesting project to complete. It would have a wide front end, custom decals, metal seat, metal steering, and a good paint job. Suzie wanted the pedal tractor to be set up in order for it to be further customized into a pulling tractor, a replica of the Webb’s IH 1066 called “Ragin’ Red,” which is a Super Farm pulling tractor in the state of Ohio.

Most Super Farm tractors have up to 640 cubic inch of motor, 3x3 turbo, p-pump, and a lot of black smoke. The Webb’s pedal pulling tractor would need the side shields, a hand throttle, and custom graphics to complete their pedal tractor so that their granddaughter would not play around the real puller and instead sit on her own at local pulls.
As you can see from the photos, I completed my end of the project by completing the wide front end, metal seat and steering wheel, custom 66 series decals from Tom Magnuson, and a few good coats of IH 2150 red paint. The Webb’s completed their dream pedal tractor by adding the front aluminum weight bracket, side shields with their Ragin’ Red graphic, aluminum wheelie bars, a hand throttle, and a chrome exhaust stack.

I thought that sharing this story would help collectors realize that you do not have to be a professional to customize a pedal tractor. When talking to Suzie, the Webb’s have never customized, nor restored, a pedal tractor before. They had a dream of having a model pulling tractor of Ragin’ Red for their granddaughter and in less than 6 months they had that dream completed.

Next month we will look at the 856 Hydro Golden Demonstrator from Ertl.
Until Next Times….
